The circuit race season has now drawn to a close, the rally season has started in earnest. Already commitments have already seen dwmotorsportphotography.com visit Oulton Park round one of the 2021/2022 MSN Rally Championship, the the Neil Howard Memorial Rally, Cadwell Park for the second round and also The Malton Forest Stages.
With entries reaching well over 100 cars on each event, there really is something for every rally nut. Amongst the copious amounts of Escort Mark 2s, R5 Fiestas and BMWs, the rallies have served up some real gems from rallies past. Already this season we have experience the sights and sounds of DTV Vauxhall Cevettes, Talbot Sumbeams, R5 Skodas and a selection of historics like the Saab 85.
After all the problems with the pandemic, it was so good to get back in the forest for the Malton Forest Stages for some proper rally action earlier this month. Taking place on loose gravel, the images attained were spectacular as the cars slid their way though the winding Malton forest track. Opportunic positions allowed for some fantastic rear shots of the cars as they pounded the track and moved the loose stones in various directions. It was also an opportunity to capture angry Mark 2 Escorts sideways through the corners which demonstrated how much the drivers and co-drivers were pushing.
Many competitors on the Malton Stage Rally were on a test ready for the upcoming Roger Albert Stages in Scotland and Wales. It was a pleasure to capture the leaders on film and supply them with photographic information of their progress.
